If you are living in a home while trying to sell it, keeping the home in buyer ready condition can prove to be a difficult task. There are some things you can do to help ensure your home is preview ready.
House Hunting, The Take-Along Workbook for Home Buyers by Dian Hymer offers several suggestions for helping current owners keep their home in showing condition.
• Hide your clutter! Buy a big plastic tub for each room. You can quickly de-clutter by throwing unattractive essentials like toys and clothes into the tubs. Just be sure to stow the tubs somewhere out of sight such as in the garage or closet.
• Know where you will go when the potential buyers arrive. Plan in advance where you’ll go when your showings are getting ready to start. It doesn’t have to be far – taking a walk through the neighborhood is probably good enough or a quick trip to the grocery store.
• Be a flexible seller with showing times. Setting severe limitations makes it harder to sell a home since schedules must be taken into consideration.
